Jump Start June with New Circus Skills Masterclasses

Tumble Circus, in partnership with Circusful, is running a series of circus master classes with professional international circus tutors. First up we have an amazing duo from Spain, Toni Gutierrez and Asvin Lopez.

The course will run 10th – 12th June at Circusful, 23-25 Gordon Street, Belfast.

Daily Schedule:

  • 10.45 – 11.45 Doubles Trapeze (Led by Toni and Asvin)
  • 12.00 – 13.00 Chinese Pole (Led by Asvin)
  • 13.45 – 14.45 Rope (Led by Toni)
  • 14.55 – 15.15 Handstands and conditioning (Led by Tina)*

A group warm-up and cool-down will be offered at the start and end of the day. Outside of this, all participants will be expected to warm up independently. Spaces will be made available throughout the day and a more detailed daily schedule will be shared once you’re registered.

Cost:
  • 3 workshops + handstands/day for 3 days £180
  • 2 workshops + handstands /day for 3 days £130
  • 1 workshop + handstands /day for 3 days £75
    *handstand/conditioning classes are free of charge

Criteria:

This is open to professional circus performers, aged 18+.

See below for specific class criteria, (please note these are not beginner level classes)

  • Rope: confidently be able to climb a rope and go upside down
  • Pole: open level class, as long as you have good aerial or acrobatic
    conditioning/skills.
  • Doubles trapeze: either base or fly a double swan, or confident on solo trapeze.
    Signing up with a partner is preferable for this class. If you want to attend and don’t
    have a partner, let us know and we’ll see what we can do.
  • All participants must have their own Public Liability Insurance and behave in keeping
    with our code of conduct and clothing requirements outlined below/in more detail
    at time of booking.

About the tutors (they are incredible!!)

Toni and Asvin have worked as performers, directors, creators and teachers for the last 15 years. Both have toured internationally and worked with companies such as:
Escola Circ Rogelio Rivel, Barcelona; Codarts, Rotterdam; Flying Fruit Fly Circus, Australia; amongst many others.
Keen to explore the resources that allow other possibilities on the aerial equipment, exploring dance, the air and working from the floor. Their work explores the interrelationship of physical preparation, technique, alignment, dynamics, silences, tricks, and movement and how these impact the creative process and increase expression.

A bit about Circusful

Circusful is one of Ireland’s premier circus arts organisations, established in 1985 it has a successful record of youth and social circus and supporting professional artists to develop and perform across Northern Ireland and beyond. Its headquarters in Belfast’s Cathedral Quarter is the first and only fully equipped, purpose-built circus arts centre on the island of Ireland. They also programme and produce Festival of Fools, the largest festival of its kind on the island of Ireland.
